OLD SCHOOL

I got a call from roomie saying " Soorjya it's 12.30 show and we are going for movie I have booked the show for three of us". I was trying to avoid him somehow but he was so dominating that I couldn't resist. It was Historical film "PAWANKHIND" and show was playing at one of the Pune's old theatre "ALKA THEATRE". They both picked me up in between and we rushed to the theatre as we were running late. We reached there and we grabbed our seats. And as soon as I rested my bum on the chair it felt like whaaaaa nostalgia. I know some people who have visited ALKA earlier may don't like this theatre as it smells old or kind of traditional. But I was smiling because I was seated in one of the oldest theatres which has great history in Maharashtrian cinemas. This is the first reason I am thankful for being there😌.

The second thing I saw, heard, experienced was rarest in such a metropolitan city. As soon as we grabbed the seats I saw a family that was Mother and her two pupils, one was a girl of age 4 years and other was Boy kind of 8 years old. Their father booked tickets and he was busy in his office and he didn't come. I heard them. As both were small they were very hard to control by mother. They were jumping , yelling, dancing, shouting. Mother was getting anxious about them and her constant rules and regulations dictation was going on. But they were so good at ignoring them. We all smiled looking at it. We saw our past in them. As the timing was running and the film was about to start mom got damn serious and she warned them not to move from their seat. IN such a little one uttered, "Mom what did you bring for me to have here ?". Mom replied, "I got homemade popcorn for both, Juice and 5 star Cadbury, but before that you should sanitize your hands." The trailers were started and the lill one got a whole list of questions for her mother and brother. Movie started and the boy couldn't see due to small height. So he rested himself at the next seat where he could see it without obstruction. This naughty lill one started going to her brother and coming back to her mom. Boy was a little older so he was watching everything with keen concentration. And this lill one got a guide for her. Her Mother. All sanitized their hands and mom served them snacks. And what I loved most is she was explaining each and everything to the pupils. She was elaborating the history behind those scenes. She was talking about Our Marathi language, Our Rebel Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and all his brave soldiers. This is so rare nowadays. In metro cities you hardly get time for family, moreover you hardly go to Marathi and historical movies, stepping ahead you are hardly affectionate about it. There we all felt like this is what we should conserve. This is what we should take forward. Our mother Marathi and our Emperor's history should be explained and passed on like this. I don't know whether I can meet them, rather it's just illogical to think so but I felt honoured and proud of that Women. Looking forward to experiencing such things again.
